Hammer Impact Breakdown

In May 2024, we jumped into making the hammer impact effect, thanks to our incredible community on 1mafx.com and Patreon, who picked the topic.

Part 1

We started with a cloth simulation for our character. The Next step was to assemble animations using animation montage. Using blueprints, we integrated everything for keyboard control.

Afterward, we added basic visual effects for the cast and charged hammer, refining the timing. To finish, we included dynamic effects like screen shake and refraction.

In Part 2, we covered exciting topics such as decal spawning and Impact VFX. Adding refraction to the impact and around the decal area gave the visual effects an extra shine.

Over the course of more than four hours of content, we explored technical subjects like cloth simulation, blueprints, and decals. We also had fun with the aesthetics, creating effects such as hammer casting, charging, and the final impact.

This has been the most enjoyable tutorial I've created, and I can't wait to see what we come up with next!
